ITALIAN MEDICAL TRANSLATOR / MEDICAL WRITER (EN → IT) Job Type: Freelance collaboration Remote: EU time zone preferred
RWS is expanding its network of expert linguists and is seeking freelance English → Italian medical translators / medical writers to support ongoing projects for a leading global pharmaceutical client.
We are looking for experienced professionals with strong expertise in medical writing and regulatory adaptation, who can work closely with the client on the translation and localisation of medical marketing content (e.g. brochures), ensuring full compliance with Italian regulations.
This role involves direct collaboration with the end client, so we are looking for communicative, reliable professionals who can build a trusted working relationship.
Key responsibilities:• Translation and adaptation of English medical marketing materials into Italian• Ensuring content complies with local regulatory requirements (AIFA)• Medical copy-editing and localisation for the Italian market• Liaising directly with the client on briefs, feedback and revisions• Working independently while maintaining high quality and consistency
Requirements:• Native-level proficiency in Italian with excellent command of English• Science degree (Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Medicine or similar)• Minimum 7 years’ experience in medical writing / medical translation• Proven experience adapting medical/marketing content for regulated environments• Familiarity with AIFA regulations and Italian medical compliance requirements• Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with clients• Ability to work independently and manage deadlines
Nice to have:• Background in journalism, medical communications or content writing• Experience working with pharmaceutical clients• Previous collaboration in client-facing freelance roles
