Roles & Responsibilities

Overview: The Industrial Sewing Machine Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial sewing machines and related equipment to ensure smooth and efficient production operations. This role contributes to production performance by minimizing downtime, optimizing machine performance, and ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.

Main Responsibilities: Install, configure, and adjust industrial sewing machines and associated equipment. Perform preventative maintenance according to established maintenance schedules. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic malfunctions and carry out necessary repairs. Respond quickly to breakdowns to minimize production downtime. Adjust and calibrate machines to ensure stitch quality and production efficiency. Replace worn or defective parts such as needles, motors, belts, loopers, and drive mechanisms. Maintain maintenance records, intervention reports, and track spare parts usage. Assist production teams in machine operation and basic troubleshooting. Ensure equipment operates in accordance with quality and safety standards. Participate in continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives. Maintain the cleanliness of machines and work areas, and ensure their proper lubrication.

Ensure machines operate according to safety and quality standards. Participate in continuous improvement and cost-reduction initiatives. Maintain cleanliness and proper lubrication of machines and work areas.

Qualifications

Skills and abilities required

• Solid knowledge of industrial sewing machines (lockstitch, overlock, coverstitch, bar tacker, etc.).
• Skills in mechanical diagnostics and troubleshooting as well as basic electricity.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and machine diagrams.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and react quickly in case of breakdown.
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• My mastery of basic IT tools for maintenance reporting (knowledge of a CMMS/GMAO system is an asset).

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of industrial sewing machines (lockstitch, overlock, flatlock, bar-tack, etc.).
• Mechanical and basic electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read technical manuals and machine diagrams.
• Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and respond quickly to breakdowns.
• Attention to detail and quality.
• Basic computer skills for maintenance reporting (CMMS is a plus).

Formation et exp rience

Diploma or technical certificate in mechanics, electromechanics or industrial maintenance.

2-5 years experience in industrial sewing machine maintenance, ideally in the clothing or textile industry. Experience with preventive maintenance systems is an advantage.

Education & Experience

• Diploma or Technical Certificate in Mechanical, Electromechanical, or Industrial Maintenance.
• 2-5 years of experience in sewing machine maintenance, preferably in garment or textile manufacturing.
• Experience with preventive maintenance systems is an advantage.
