ROLE SUMMARY:

We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and reflective Wellbeing Coach to join our school community. This role plays a vital part in supporting students who experience emotional, social, behavioural, physical, or mental health challenges that may impact their learning, engagement, and overall wellbeing. The Wellbeing Coach works directly with students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, building trusting relationships and using targeted, evidence-informed strategies to help students overcome barriers, develop resilience, and thrive both in school and beyond. Working as part of the Pastoral / Inclusion Team , the Wellbeing Coach reports to the Head of SEN & Inclusion (or equivalent lead) and contributes to a whole-school culture that promotes emotional health, inclusion, equality, and positive wellbeing.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

Health and Wellbeing Coaches support individuals to take proactive steps to improve how they manage their physical and mental health, based on what matters most to them . The role focuses on empowering students to develop the knowledge, skills, confidence, and self-belief needed to manage their wellbeing, improve health outcomes, and enhance quality of life. Using a structured coaching approach over multiple sessions, the Wellbeing Coach motivates and supports students to identify needs, set meaningful goals, develop self-management skills, and make sustainable changes in health-related behaviours. The role includes managing and prioritising a caseload, recognising when needs are beyond the scope of the role, and making appropriate referrals to other professionals or services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Student Support

• Building trusting relationships to foster resilience and confidence, delivering targeted interventions (nurture groups, emotional literacy, self-regulation) and using coaching frameworks to help students set goals, solve problems, and build on their strengths.

Collaboration

• Working closely with teachers, SEN staff, families, and external agencies to ensure joined-up, personalised support, making appropriate referrals when needs exceed the role's scope.

Safeguarding & Inclusion

• Upholding safeguarding duties while providing non-judgemental, culturally sensitive support that actively promotes equality and encourages engagement from all students and families.

Monitoring & Evaluation

• Managing a caseload, tracking progress, reporting on intervention outcomes, and gathering feedback from students, families, and referral agencies to demonstrate impact and improve services.

Professional Practice

• Working flexibly and reflectively, maintaining clear role boundaries, centring student voices, and committing to ongoing professional development.

Desired Candidate Profile

• Experience working with children or young people, ideally within education, pastoral care, youth support, mentoring, counselling, coaching, or a related setting.
• Strong understanding of the emotional, social, behavioural, physical, and mental health challenges that affect wellbeing, engagement, and learning.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students, families, and professionals with warmth, empathy, and sensitivity.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Skilled in adapting approaches and interventions to meet individual needs.
• Compassionate, patient, resilient, and genuinely committed to inclusion, equality, and pupil success.
• Strong belief that individuals have untapped strengths and resources that can be developed through high-quality, non-judgemental support.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Relevant experience in youth support, mentoring, pastoral care, counselling, psychology, coaching, education support, or related fields.
• Formal qualifications at Bachelor s and Master s level in Counselling or Psychology
