The Opportunity:



As the Engineering Lead, you will report to the MSP IWP Engineering Manager and functionally to the MCPSPO Principal Engineer (PE). You are responsible for managing a small team of multi-disciplined engineers in relation to undertaking a remediation project assets, namely RHIBs and their associated trailers.
Using subject matter expertise, you will develop requirements and taskings for engineering change design solutions; using project engineering and organisational skills to execute and to progress the engineering change activities to achieve the sponsored scope of work. You will work with a range of stakeholders to determine factors that influence problem definition, requirements, scope and design solutions. This role will perform tasks under general supervision from both the IWP Engineering Manager and the MCPCPO PE.

Responsibilities:



Manage a team of multi-disciplined engineers. Review and update existing documentation, e.g. Operating and Support Intent (SOI) and Operational Concept Document (OCD). Review and update the Functional Performance Specification (FPS). Managing Engineering Change PCAs of the 100+ assets to confirm the product baseline of each asset. Rationalization of the existing document storage system. Consolidation of data from multiple sources into one document. Managing the PCA of asset Configured Items. Review and update the RHIB Safety Cases. Provide project status updates to the CoA. Manage the development and progression of Engineering Changes. Provide technical guidance, decisions and direction to support the customer and the business unit on ship systems within the scope of the engineering changes. Conduct engineering assurance on deliverables that are compliant to SOLAS, MAPROL, DEF(AUST) 5000 and Class requirements and other standards as applicable. Perform verification and validation assurance activities on electrical systems throughout the design stages. Provide Design Acceptance Representative (DAR) services for designs as required. Liaise with a range of stakeholders and agencies within a multidisciplinary team to achieve engineering change management and configuration management. Provide engineering assurance IAW Engineering management plans, process and best practice within the Naval Technical Regulatory Framework.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience



Essential:



Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. Minimum 10 years’ experience in a related industry or similar position. Experience in ship systems and integration with other platform systems. Experience in managing a team of engineers. Eligible to obtain a Suitably Qualified Experience Personnel (SQEP) delegation within an Authorised Engineering Organisation (AEO). Eligible for International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) clearance on relevant ship systems. Defence Baseline Security Clearance (and eligible to obtain a Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) Security Clearance).

Desirable:



Experience in Defence Industry. Experience in Marine Systems and structure. Experience in systems integration, platform upgrade projects, and systems engineering. Eligible for membership of a recognized professional body and registration as Chartered Engineer
