Job Description
Mechanical/Reliability Engineer Co-Op Overview:
Envision spending time working with energetic colleagues and inspirational leaders, all while gaining world-class experience in one of the most dynamic organizations in the pharmaceutical industry. This is a reality for AbbVie’s Co-Op's.
Engineering supports and enables all functions throughout the facility by operating the building utilities and control systems, maintaining the entire facility, providing technical support, managing capital projects, qualifying systems, and providing drafting support.
Key Responsibilities:
The Reliability Engineer Co-Op position reports to the Reliability Engineer or Reliability Manager and is responsible for:
- Utilize our Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to direct the strategy and execution of facility systems, predictive and preventive maintenance.
- Supporting the development, execution, and maintenance of the site, asset reliability program, and associated projects.
- Support reliability and engineering tools such as Life-Cycle costing, Pareto, and Root Cause Failure Analysis.
- Apply predictive maintenance technologies such as Ultrasound and Vibration analysis on a variety of equipment and systems to identify potential equipment failures and recommend the appropriate corrective action.
- Support the site reliability program including asset criticality, maintenance strategy and critical spare parts.
- Works with maintenance and inventory personnel in development of asset critical spare parts strategy and continuous improvement efforts.
- Work closely with Project Engineering, Controls Engineering, Site Operations, and Maintenance to fulfill primary job responsibilities, and will regularly interface with site engineering management regarding the status of the Reliability program.
- Supports Asset Maintenance Plan to ensure adequate levels of sustaining effective maintenance job plans and critical spare parts for each plant asset.
- Supports Reliability Engineer as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or other related field.
- Must be enrolled in school at the time of the Co-Op.
- Must be able to commit to a 6-month program at AbbVie Bioresearch Center (ABC) in Worcester, MA
- Expected Graduation Date between December 2025 – June 2027
Preferred Qualifications:
- Must have strong written and interpersonal skills with an ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with various levels/grades within the organization.
- Must have strong project planning, organizational, and time management skills.
- Previous mechanical experience preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
