The role at Scientist I is to be responsible for performing a range of routine and investigative analyses ensuring that projects are completed effectively according to timescales and meet the agreements with the clients. Perform analytical measurements and report work in accordance with the quality standards. This role focuses on routine and investigative analyses of products and method development and validations using techniques such as Moisture, Fat, Salt, NIR, SRC, Texture analysers, rheological analysis, NMR, Thermal Analysis, Powder characterization tools among others. Manage and train junior members of the team as required. Client contact and administrative support for laboratory management.
How you will contribute
In summary, the position plans and executes experiments and assigns projects or functional expert services. Delivers results, interpretation and technical reports. Applies fundamental understanding to analysis of results or assessment of compliance. Implements corrective measures when necessary.
At the organizational level, the position develops strong relationships within function and cross-functionally. Acts as a technological resource or as an expert in own technical / scientific area. Issues research reports and specifications and/or conducts/leads project reviews.
Technical Approach
Provide high quality customer partnership at all times by ensuring effective organization of assigned workload, integrity of analytical data generated and timely/accurate provision of results.
Perform a range of routine and investigative analysis using available analytical techniques under a minimum supervision of senior members of the team.
Perform method validation following protocols accordingly.
Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting of simple analytical systems including checking of supplier’s reports (qualifications, repairs and preventive reports).
Set up reports and troubleshooting for the assigned projects.
Provide training in routine activities and methods, including support to people from other areas (Quality, ISC).
Be user of available specific softwares and proficient in the use of generic and specific software packages required for the role, as examples: Minitab for data treatment, R&Dsuite, eQCMS, Interspec, Knovel, Goldfire.
Use Statistical tools to support projects (sampling, correlation and regression, repeatability, reproducibility).
Assign housekeeping tasks as required.
Approach with manufacturing process involved in the daily routine.
Take responsibility as required for specific projects and/or specific areas of general laboratory/sample administration.
Strategic Approach
Work through the needs established for the category/function, executing projects related to growth, productivity, brand maintenance and quality improvement as part of cross functional teams. Align priorities, resource management, suggest approach to meet the business needs and alternative solutions to technical challenges. Deliver against needs identified.
Execute parallel projects support with some guidance.
Collaborate with Analytical Sciences team by ensuring knowledge management, establishing technical network within and outside of the Function and sharing projects with categories and local areas.
Understand internal MDLZ policies and apply them to their daily work.
Communication & Influence
Work as part of an efficient Regional Analytical team.
To liase with clients to ensure effective communication of project results. Actively participate on the definition of the project’s scope.
Participate in client and stake holders meetings as required.
Deliver internal technical presentations across groups.
Leadership and supervision
Plan own workload and ensure resources allocation in appropriate projects.
Supervise and train junior members of the team as required.
QEHS
Work to the highest standards of safety and quality by ensuring that appropriate COSHHs, risk assessments and SOPs are understood and followed.
Complete assigned quality actions on a timely manner.
Assist with the documentation of SOPs for simple equipment and Test Methods.
Generation of Risk Assessments and COSHH.
Maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment.
Understand and work to the requirements of GMP/GLP.
Ensure training records are captured accurately.
