Job Description
This role is remote-based, and candidates must live within one of the following states: Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, District of Columbia, Delaware.
Abbvie is currently looking for an individual to join our HQ Marketing Team as an Associate Director, Medical Expert Engagement Marketer. The Associate Director, Medical Expert Engagement Marketer (MEEM) – Northeast is responsible for executing and supporting the Medical Expert (ME) Engagement strategy within the Northeast region (Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, District of Columbia, Delaware), for a novel ADC soon to be approved for use within NSCLC. The MEEM-Northeast will work cross-functionally to identify, engage, and build professional relationships with Medical Experts in the lung cancer disease area and execute regional engagement plans in a commercial capacity. Candidates must reside within the assigned territory.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Engagement: Support the Director in executing the ME Engagement Strategy across the assigned region, ensuring alignment with AbbVie’s broader oncology business objectives.
- Regional Execution: Develop, Implement, and Support Medical Expert Engagement Strategy within region with regional advisory board meetings, special engagements, congress planning, engagement with HCPs, and special projects
- Program Management: Lead and co-lead the materials approval process (PRC), including job code creation, resource approval, and field resource deployment.
- Speaker Bureau Management -Oversee the performance of regional speaker programs, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and maximizing HCP engagement in collaboration with Peer-to-Peer Marketing Manager
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, sales, medical, and external agencies, to ensure seamless execution of regional initiatives.
- Budget and Resource Management: Manage budgets and resources effectively, ensuring timely execution of plans, adherence to timelines, and accurate financial reporting.

- Contracting and payment of Medical Experts
- Finance Reporting
- Conference Planning: Coordinate and support ME engagements at medical conferences, ensuring collaboration with relevant functions for a seamless HCP experience.
- Training and Rollout: Partner with relevant teams to roll out national marketing resources and adapt them to capitalize on regional opportunities.
- Agency Management: Co-lead agency partners to ensure adherence to timelines, budget constraints, and PRC submission accuracy.
Stakeholder Education: Educate Medical Experts on strategic brand priorities, fostering strong professional relationships that drive brand success.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree required.
Experience: At least one of the following (Preference in Thoracic Oncology)
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, with at least 1 year in marketing or medical affairs
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an advanced nurse practitioner or pharmacist in oncology, with at least 1 year in sales or marketing in healthcare
- Sales Leadership, TLL, Account Management
Therapy Area: Experience in the oncology, rare disease. Thoracic Oncology a plus
Project Management: Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Leadership: Demonstrated ability to build strong cross-functional partnerships, influence without authority, and lead peers inclusively.
Communication: Excellent communication and analytical skills, with the ability to collate insights and provide strategic recommendations.
Strategic Mindset: Ability to think strategically and execute effectively on regional engagement plans.
Travel: Willingness to travel up to 60% of the time, including domestic travel for office visits, field time, internal meetings, and conferences.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
