APM Terminals

APM Terminals plays an important role in enabling the global Maersk Ocean and Logistics network as well as serving other Shipping Lines, Beneficial Cargo Owners, Freight Forwarders, intermodal logistics providers and integrating with a wide variety of local port authorities, customs and government bodies across our global network of transshipment, import and export gateway terminals.
In support of the broader Maersk strategy, we are accelerating the transformation of our business from a portfolio of independently operated terminals into a safer, better, bigger global terminals operator


PURPOSE



Leading Safety Differently approach, creating safety capacity and fail-safe culture. Acts as Improvement Influencer within HSSE function. 


Develops, implements, and manages Terminal’s wide occupational HSSE program (ISO and Safety Management Systems, Risk Management, Performance Management, Reporting, and the Assurance Program); follow up on the overall HSSE scope document and scheduler; acts as consultant to departments on HSSE related topics and improvements.


Key responsibilities:


LEADERSHIP & ENGAGEMENT 


  • Assists and supports the development, implementation and maintenance of Health/ Safety /Security / Environment programs that are regulatory compliant.
  • Ensures compliance with general safety guidelines and Moroccan regulations. Following up and monitoring of Corporate Recommendations.
  • Provides an excellent cross functional partnership service to plan, facilitates and enables the achievement of HSSE goals and priorities.
  • Provides HSSE expertise and knowledge to facilitate business operations and assists in the development of Emergency plans, Safety policies, Standard Operating Procedures and Risk Assessments.
  • Influences colleagues and key stakeholders within terminal to become effective Safety Leaders.
  • Responsible for SOPs, Reports, Records, Databases keeping of the HSE function (Doc Tools/Confluence/Archive), including updates and periodic reviews.

STRATEGY & MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS 


  • Assists and supports in defining and executing the HSE strategy and the monitoring of the strategy implementation.
  • Influences and supports Senior Managers and personnel to ensure the continued development of HSSE culture and operating best practices
  • through the embedding HSSE strategic elements in terminal operating and resourcing plans.
  • Plans and manages HSSE resources in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner.
  • Supports the delivery and adoption of a structured HSSE management systems and maintains Integrated Management System as per standards


RISK MANAGEMENT


  • Identifies key processes for assessment and recognizes opportunities for continuous improvement by identifying and mitigating risks through co-operations with stakeholders.
  • Assures improvement action plan has identified risk and/or unsafe work practices that are realistic, practical and sustainable. Takes a lead role in ensuring controls are understood and enforced.
  • Monitors the availability and quality of risk assessments and safe working procedures provided by contractors/vendors.
  • Assures that contractors, suppliers, consultants and visitors to the entities comply with relevant legislation and APMT global HSSE standards.


INCIDENT MANAGEMENT 


  • Set up and run incident management process (intervention, investigation, reporting, prevention).
  • Coaches and supports significant incident investigation activities across the terminal to ensure effective incident investigation processes are applied to understand immediate and underlying causes.
  • Monitors investigation improvement actions delivery to prevent recurrences and disseminate learning.


TRAINING & COACHING 


  • Supports the business in cooperation with T&D team by developing and implementing training solutions to enhance skills, awareness and engagement in HSSE.
  • Leverage HSSE centers of expertise for development and service delivery for execution of HSSE programs that support business objectives.
  • Monitors the HSSE related competency plan delivery and identify gaps and actions to close those gaps.
  • Supports the HSSE development of others through training, coaching & mentoring.
  • Maintains and improves own competencies, mentors and coaches HSSE team to ensure that best practices are applied.

We are looking for:


  • Minimum master’s degree in HSE related field, Gradi OSH is a plus.
  • Certified in quality management systems (ISO9001/ISO45001/ISO14001 or similar)
  • Skilled in IT tools beyond office (Proven expertise in Office, design, development)
  • Requires at least five years of HSSE relevant experience
  • Requires an in depth understanding of risk management methodologies
  • Must have a good understanding of preventative safety measures for buildings and port facilities
  • Requires full understanding of local HSSE laws and regulations.
  • Requires an understanding of international standards of safe work practices for the industry.
  • Requires an understanding of work injuries, the investigation process to determine cause, and the process to assess practical solutions.
  • Must have extensive knowledge in investigative procedures and report-writing.
  • Requires the ability to communicate both in English, Arabic & French.
  • Requires excellent organizational skills, including planning, directing, and monitoring activities.
  • Requires good problem-solving skills, with an ability to define the problem, examine solutions, and select the best solution, and this must be done at times immediately under stress
  • Requires ability to remain calm, but able to direct others, in times of emergency.
  • Must be able to work outside and inside, long days and at different working hours
