Reporting to the Medical Director of the Rabat International University Hospital and the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of IUR, the Higher Education Professor Head of Specialty (PESD) is responsible for teaching, research, supervision, and care for their medical specialty, in accordance with professional standards, ethics, and deontology.





Main missions of the position:





Teaching and research activities:





  • Participate in the development of teaching and training programs and ensure their execution through lectures, conferences, tutorials, practical work, seminars, supervision of hospital internships, and medical simulation exercises;

  • Supervise teaching activities in their specialty, including the training of residents and medical students, course coordination, and clinical internship planning;

  • Proceed with the evaluation and assessment of students' knowledge and skills and participate in the monitoring and juries of exams and competitions for students, interns, residents, and assistant professors;

  • Supervise theses and final year projects;

  • Participate in the recruitment committee for assistant professors and associate professors in their medical specialty;

  • Maintain clinical and research expertise by conducting research projects in their medical specialty, leveraging hospital resources and collaborating with other researchers and institutions;

  • Develop and maintain partnerships with other research and healthcare institutions to promote collaboration and knowledge sharing.



Hospital activities:





  • Coordinate medical activity in their specialty and establish team schedules, ensuring the quality and safety of patient care in line with the overall vision defined by the hospital's medical management;

  • Manage, under their responsibility, the nursing staff made available by the hospital in perfect coordination with the Nursing Department;

  • Participate in the recruitment committee for hospital practitioners in their specialty;

  • Define and implement training and development programs for staff in their specialty;

  • Develop the action plan and annual budget for their specialty and ensure the efficient use of allocated funds for care, research, and training;

  • Participate in committees and working groups at the university hospital level to represent the specialty and contribute to the development of institutional policies and procedures;

  • Lead the implementation of new technologies and care approaches in their specialty, working with other CHU staff to evaluate the effectiveness of clinical interventions and their impact on patients;

  • Collaborate with other medical specialties within the university hospital to establish integrated and coordinated care protocols for patients with complex or multiple conditions;

  • Actively contribute to certification processes and encourage their team to engage in quality improvement initiatives.
