A position for an Engineering Manager has opened up within a large-scale renewable energy project located in Western Morocco. This landmark initiative is at the forefront of promoting green energy and sustainability. Led by two major industry leaders, the $7 billion venture is dedicated to constructing a green ammonia facility powered by green hydrogen. It aims to produce one million tonnes of green ammonia each year by 2027. Utilizing renewable energy sources, including a 2.8 GW wind farm and a 1 GW solar PV power plant, the project strives to meet its goals. As a key component of our client's wider green growth strategy, the objective is to achieve complete carbon neutrality by 2040. The infrastructure will include a transmission grid, hydrogen and ammonia production plants and storage units.
About the Role:
The H2 and NH3 Synthesis Manager will be responsible for overseeing mechanical aspects, design, development, commissioning, and quality assurance throughout the entire PtX multi-phase project, particularly in process plants. The role is ideal for someone with a deep understanding of H2/NH3 production processes, green hydrogen generation, and their application in industrial operations.
Core Responsibilities:
- Evaluate the requirements of the PtX booster project.
- Manage the design and execution of the hydrogen infrastructure necessary for the ammonia production process, including hydrogen generation, storage, and distribution systems.
- Work with engineering teams to enhance ammonia production efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
- Guarantee the safety, reliability, and efficiency of equipment throughout the PtX project.
- Analyze various green hydrogen technologies to identify the most efficient and cost-effective options for the company.
- Keep abreast of the latest advancements in green ammonia and green hydrogen technologies, seeking opportunities for innovation and improvement in line with company goals.
- Conduct techno-economic analyses for green ammonia and green hydrogen components, evaluating production costs, resource needs, and potential economic advantages.
- Find opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency enhancements in the production process.
- Liaise with partner/supplier EPC teams regarding installation procedures to achieve company objectives.
- Educate and guide PtX booster project commissioning teams.
- Formal sharing of designs and technical reports with internal and external stakeholders and partners.
- Provision of technical guidance to project teams.
Qualifications:
Extensive expertise in H2/NH3 production processes, green hydrogen generation techniques, and their application in industrial operations. Acquaintance with sustainability concepts, environmental regulations, and industry best practices in the energy and chemical sectors.
Required Skills:
- In-depth technical knowledge of process plants, including H2 and NH3, along with their requirements, specifications, and current technologies.
- Awareness of regulations pertaining to green ammonia industrial projects.
- Comprehensive understanding of digital tools for project management.
