Contract Telecom Specialist

Job Description

MISSION:
The role involves the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of telecommunication systems in accordance with Qatargas standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing telecom systems in a live project environment, ensuring their seamless operation to support both safety and communication needs on offshore platforms.

TASKS:
Oversee the installation, configuration, and integration of telecommunication systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications and Qatargas standards.
Manage and maintain telecom systems, including PABX, LAN/WAN networks, VHF/UHF radio systems, satellite communication, and CCTV, to ensure continuous operation and safety.
Perform on-site troubleshooting and repairs of telecom systems, minimizing downtime and ensuring quick resolution of issues.
Lead the on-site commissioning and testing of telecom systems, ensuring they meet operational and safety requirements.
Conduct functional tests and simulations to verify the reliability and performance of all installed systems.
Prepare and review commissioning documentation, ensuring thorough records of all tests and modifications.
Implement scheduled maintenance plans for all telecom systems, ensuring they remain operational and compliant with safety standards.
Coordinate and supervise on-site vendors and subcontractors performing upgrades or maintenance tasks on telecom equipment.
Monitor system performance, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing necessary upgrades to enhance system reliability.
Ensure that all on-site telecom activities comply with Qatargas standards and relevant international regulations.
Perform regular inspections and audits of telecom systems, identifying and addressing any potential compliance issues.
Maintain detailed records of system configurations, maintenance activities, and compliance inspections.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Relevant certifications in telecommunications systems are preferred.
10+ years of hands-on experience with telecom systems in the Oil & Gas sector, specifically in an offshore environment during the commissioning phase.
Proven experience with Qatargas standards is essential.
Fluent level of English, written and spoken.
