A leading American international school in Rabat is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Library Media Specialist to lead its library and media program. The successful candidate will foster a love of reading, develop students' information and digital literacy skills, and collaborate with teachers to support teaching and learning across the curriculum. Key Responsibilities
- Manage and develop the school's library as a dynamic learning environment that supports the American curriculum.
- Promote a culture of reading through book clubs, literacy initiatives, author visits, and special events.
- Teach information literacy, research skills, digital citizenship, and responsible technology use to students across grade levels.
- Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources, research skills, and educational technology into classroom instruction.
- Curate and maintain a diverse, inclusive, and up-to-date collection of print and digital resources.
- Oversee library systems, cataloguing, circulation, and resource management.
- Support students in selecting age-appropriate materials that encourage independent reading, inquiry, and critical thinking.
- Train and support faculty in the effective use of library resources, databases, and educational technologies.
- Manage the library budget and participate in collection development and resource acquisition.
- Create a welcoming, inclusive, and engaging library environment for students, staff, and families.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Library Science, Information Science, Education, or a related field.
- Experience as a Library Media Specialist, School Librarian, or in a similar role within an American or international school.
- Strong knowledge of children's and young adult literature.
- Experience teaching information literacy, research skills, and digital citizenship.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Native-level or fluent English proficiency.
