Support the AbbVie Product Development Science & Technology team as a member of Analytical Development at the new ADC Center of Excellence in Waltham. The ideal candidate has extensive LC-MS experience for the characterization of biologics, including instrument maintenance and troubleshooting, method development, and in-depth understanding of structure and function. This role will act as a lead scientist in his/her area of expertise, supporting multiple project teams and contributing to CMC sections of regulatory filings. 

Responsibilities:

• Lead development and implementation of LC-MS based extended characterization methods to support ADC programs at various phases. Previous analytical experience with ADCs is preferred.
• Apply extensive experience in separation and characterization of biologics with an in-depth understanding of structure and function.
• Responsible for maintaining multiple LC-MS systems and reagents, including instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Summarize results in detailed development reports and contribute to CMC sections of regulatory filings (i.e. 3.2.S.3.1 Elucidation of Structure and Other Characteristics).
• Demonstrate creative thinking to solve difficult problems and champion new innovative technologies to achieve project goals.
• Actively participate in cross-functional teams within Product Development Science & Technology and provide support to external departments. Openly share scientific expertise and collaboratively help the team to generate rational solutions to problems.
• Generate new scientific proposals and lead those efforts. Anticipate and critically evaluate scientific or regulatory advances and respond with appropriate new strategies.  

•BS or equivalent education and extensive, typically 14+ years of experience; MS or equivalent education with typically 12+ years of experience; PhD with typically 6+ years of experience in area or scientific area of discipline.
•Demonstrated ability to function as a principle investigator, generating original technical ideas and research or development strategies.
•Demonstrate creative 'out of the box' thinking to solve difficult technical problems and champion new technologies to achieve project goals.
•Recognized and sought out as an expert in his/her discipline within the company and possibly externally.
•Experienced and demonstrated success as primary author of publications, presentations, regulatory documents and/or primary inventor of patents.
•Demonstrated scientific communication and presentation skills by presenting at leading scientific conferences.
