Job Overview



TE Connectivity's Tooling Teams perform the manufacturing functions related to metal working dies and tool making. They are responsible for completing all assignments to construct, modify and condition metal working dies and may fabricate new gages, cutting or forming tools and fixtures by analyzing blueprints, sketches, models and engineering or shop specifications. They perform precision work to exacting tolerances and dimensions; recommend revisions in design and/or substitutions in material based on machinability or fabrication problems encountered; and solve problems relating to unusual materials, machine settings, fabrication methods, and production process. Every team member is responsible for maintaining housekeeping and organization of the work area as well as following TE Connectivity's EH&S policies and procedures.

Tasks and Responsibilities



• Maintain design files and document control
• Work with Project Managers and support the shop floor throughout die manufacturing
• Take part in the review of the mold build, (lessons learned), and continuous improvement
• Assist in troubleshooting of Molding tool related issues and recommend solutions
• Create designs, details, and dimensioning of CAD files and prints for the manufacture of plastic injections Mold
• Create a Bill of Material from the finished, and customer approved design
• Under general direction, performs tooling development activities including solid modeling layout and interpretation/implementation of specifications and documentation requirements
• Applies Design for Manufacturing (DFM) techniques to product design
• Reviews designs with manufacturing to ensure tooling is appropriate
• Will prepare tool designs from concept, to finished tool drawings using Creo, and coordinate with fabrication skill centers as a tooling liaison
• Implement engineering changes as required
• Develop alternative design solutions and/or quick engineering solutions for complex problems.
• Coordinate design review meetings to provide improvement recommendations
• Review and recommend materials used in the tool designs
• interpret part simulation results ensuring correct deviations are applied to the design.
• Develop design concept strategies that meet the dimensional and material usage requirements
• Ensure that all designs follow company design standards, safety, quality, environmental compliance, and procedural standards

What your background should look like:



• Bac+5 combined with previous injection mold design experience. Minimum 3 years
• Strong understanding of plastic injection
• Strong 3D modeling and surfacing for the injection mold industry
• Knowledge of GD&T
• Project and program management skills; ability to handle multiple projects.
• Proficiency using standard business software (including MS Office).
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Strong time-management and organizational skills
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, work under time constraints, maintain composure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
