Research Center on Algal Biotechnology (RCAB) at University Mohammed VY Polytechnic (UM6P), Laayoune City, is seeking a motivated assistant professor in bioprocess engineering. The selected candidate is anticipated to establish a research program focusing on advanced bioprocesses for algal biomass valorization in different applications. The scope of research is based on various aspects of science and technology development, including enzyme and chemical catalysis, bio-separation, bioproduct testing and process scaleup. The candidate is expected to actively pursue external research funding, foster collaborative projects and contribution in managing a comprehensive research program. Responsibilities include proposal writing, project supervision, teaching, and mentorship aligned with his/her scholarly and research background.
Job Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate and graduate students.
- Design and update curricula and evaluate student performance.
- Mentor graduate students, providing guidance on research projects.
- Interact with academic and professional communities, disseminating research findings through conferences and workshops.
- Generate high-quality research publications, including peer-reviewed articles and conference papers, showcasing excellence in research.
- Lead a dynamic research program in bioprocess engineering, focusing on advancing technologies for processing algal biomass into biofuels, chemicals, biopolymers, food, and animal feed.
- Seek and secure extramural research funding through successful grant applications.
- Develop innovative technologies and methodologies in bioprocess engineering.
- Commit to continuous professional development, remaining informed about the latest developments in bioprocess engineering and related fields.
- Cultivate collaborative research initiatives within and beyond the department, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches and partnerships with institutions or industry collaborators.
- Engage in departmental, university, and professional service activities, including academic advising, and participation in relevant academic organizations.
Qualifications And Experience
- Ph.D. in bioprocess engineering, environmental engineering, or algal biotechnology.
- Expertise in biomass valorization for application in biofuels, chemicals, biopolymers, food, and animal feed.
- Proficient in collaborative work within multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated postdoctoral research experience.
- Ability to articulate research programs aligned with vision of the research center.
- Proven teaching ability in bioprocess engineering at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Established publication record with original peer-reviewed publications, preferably as first author.
- Active research profile, showcasing potential for future research independence through fellowship, co-Investigation, collaboration, or grant applications.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and effective communication abilities.
- Previous experience in bioprocess engineering, environmental engineering, or algal biotechnology, either in academia or industry.
- Strong commitment to leading innovative research initiatives in bioprocessing technologies.
- Focus on engineering systems for processing diverse biomaterials (e.g., algae biomass, plant biomass, grains, vegetable oils, etc…).
