Job Description

Purpose of the Job


As a Visual Merchandiser at IKEA, you will collaborate with the Com&In team and other store functions to enhance interest in home furnishings and drive demand for innovative solutions in the local market. Your role is crucial in optimizing store layout and range presentation to create a compelling shopping experience.


Key Assignments:


Stimulate Interest


  • Promote enthusiasm for IKEA’s home furnishing solutions among customers.

Creative Leadership


  • Organize and lead workshops to explore and develop creative merchandising ideas, ensuring the store’s design remains fresh, innovative, and aligned with market trends.

Store Vitality and Seasonality


  • Develop and execute a dynamic store commercial calendar, maintaining a vibrant and seasonally relevant shopping environment that engages customers and drives sales.

Range Presentation and Store Layout


  • Collaborate with the Com&In team to create effective range presentations and optimize store layout, reinforcing IKEA’s brand identity and enhancing the store’s impact.

Team Understanding and Development


  • Share knowledge about best practices in store layout, range presentation, and communication with the commercial team. Provide insights into consumer behavior and home life to support the store’s business plan.

Competence Development


  • Identify and address current and future business needs based on IKEA’s national competence development plan, contributing to the development of a high-performing and passionate Com&In team.

Exploit Commercial Opportunities


  • Support the Com&In team in identifying and capitalizing on both short-term and long-term commercial opportunities to drive business success and growth.

Security Awareness


  • Maintain awareness of security-related emergency responses and adhere to IKEA’s policies and procedures to ensure a safe and secure store environment.

Qualifications

For the Visual Merchandiser position at IKEA, your Knowledge, Skills, and Experience should include:


Home Furnishing Expertise:


  • Comprehensive understanding of home furnishing, particularly IKEA's unique approach. This includes knowledge of diverse living situations, style groups, and effective use of light in design to enhance the IKEA shopping experience.

Range Presentation Skills:


  • Proficiency in presenting IKEA’s range according to company standards. This involves utilizing store layout as a commercial tool, incorporating store media, and employing innovative display techniques.

Market Understanding:


  • Insight into local market trends and customer preferences, informed by tools like the IKEA Customer Satisfaction Survey and IKEA Brand Capital. This understanding aids in tailoring designs to meet local needs and expectations.
