Job Purpose

To implement and maintain necessary operating procedures and manuals which ensure the safety and smooth operation of Air Arabia Maroc Fleet.  Monitors the performance of the flights, pilots, and systems in accordance with the provisions of the Operations Manuals and in compliance with Air Arabia Maroc policies and DGAC/CAA regulations. Establishes and maintains professionalism of pilots and efficiency on manpower and operating costs.





Key Result Responsibilities

  1. Leads the respective team ensuring continuous support, coaching and guidance are provided to assist them achieve individual/team efficiency in performance on levels and at all times.



  1. Supports the manpower planning and utilization in line with business operational needs and in compliance with the regulatory requirements. Oversees the manpower allocation in a cost-effective manner ensuring Company’s objectives for cost reduction are achieved.  Responsible for Base allocation and assignment of pilots across all hubs



  1. Partners with Stakeholders in Operations and Human Resources to ensure objective performance evaluation of all pilots.



  1. Utilizes available data and reports to decide on promotions, dismissals, mandatory and competency-based trainings, career development, grievances and overall performance of team.



  1. Liaises with Cabin Services Manager to design, develop, and implement policies and Standard Operating Procedures ensuring consistency and compatibility in standards between Flight and Cabin Crew operations. 



  1. Monitors and timely reviews the revisions on the Operations Manual Parts A, B, C and MEL; notifies Flight Crew with any temporary amendments, changes, instructions or notices pertaining to flight operations as well as safety critical operational information.



  1. Partners with Safety, Security and Quality Assurance to review, update, and monitor the implementation of related manuals necessary to establish and maintain Flight Crew safety and security procedures within the Company. Monitors safety issues trends to identify corrective measures and implement accordingly.

 8 . Reviews, analyzes and evaluates various reports from different sources such as discretion, occurrence, voyage, and Flight Crew reports, recommends and takes appropriate actions and solutions and communicates necessary information accordingly.  Ensure timely collection and submission of Capt Discretion Reports.



9. Liaises with external parties such as DGAC/CAA, regulatory bodies, aircraft manufacturer, and OEMs to ensure that the AFM (Aircraft Fleet Management) system is up-to-date and provides the most advantageous performance data for the fleet standardization and safety; provides recommendations when appropriate.



10. Supports the Head of Flight Operations by providing valid recommendations on the planning of routes, schedules, and new destinations.



11. Establishes operational requirements for all aerodromes and routes served, high-lights any limitations to aircraft performance.



12. Analyzes and evaluates the current practices to identify options for reducing operations cost mainly in fuel consumption and manpower utilization.



13. Ensures Quality Assurance and internal/external audit requirements are effectively managed; represents Flight Operations on various statutory audits such as CAA, IOSA, etc.



14. Carries out field trip visits to evaluate performance of destinations and support hubs



15. Operate a number of flights to achieve a yearly average of 40 block hours per month.





Qualifications (Academic, training, languages)

  • Appropriate ATPL License is a must.

  • Bachelor degree in Aeronautics/Aviation/Management or equivalent is an advantage. 

  • Training in safety and emergency response is essential – a formal qualification is an advantage.

  • Basic Airport, security procedures and regulations related training is a must.

  • Training in IATA principles & standards relating to security is highly desirable.

  • Cost Control, Compliance, Budgeting and Quality Assurance certificates and trainings are an added value and some may be treated as conditional for this role.

  • Proficient in using aircraft systems; proficient in Microsoft Office, Internet and Web Search.

  • Excellent in written and verbal communication skills, Technical reports writings presentations, etc.

  • Fluent in English, Arabic and French languages are advantages.




Work Experience

  • 10+ years of extensive experience in Airlines Operations; he/she should have spent a minimum of 5 in a supervisory or managerial level in a similar position handling operational control over international commercial operations with similar aircrafts.

  • Or, he/she should have spent a minimum of 3 years at least within the last 6 years as a pilot in command of (Airbus 320, Airbus 321); experience with low cost airline is considered an advantage.

  • Possesses good industry knowledge in aircraft systems and operating procedures.

  • Familiar with rules and regulations of Civil Aviation Authorities and regulatory bodies, preferably DGAC and IOSA pertaining to Flight Operations manuals and working procedures, as well as Pilots licensing.

  • Working exposure to Quality Assurance/Safety/Security/Audit procedures and practices affecting Flight Operations.

  • Experienced in implementing, and monitoring policies, procedures and manuals as per business requirements, approved quality standards, and in line with authority adopted regulations.

  • Hands on operations with high pressure: a frequently changing environment with heavy work-load schedules and ad-hoc scenarios.

  • High accuracy and attention to both results and details.

  • Developed skills in cost-estimation analysis and managing budget expenditure.

  • Experienced in measuring the team’s performance against regulations, manuals and set standards.
