Smurfit Kappa Spain, Portugal and Morocco , Corrugated Division needs to incorporate in its new plant in Rabat, a HR Manager to develop this innovative project.

This role represents a unique opportunity to direct, mentor and strengthen the HR area, developing all the HR politics, and ensuring the Smurfit Kappa values in a completely new geographical market.


The HR Manager of Rabat is the responsible person for the labor relations and HR related topics within Morocco and is the liaison between the Cluster and the Plant. The HR Manager will report to the Managing Director of Morocco with a dotted line to the Cluster HR Director.

The main responsibilities consist of:

• Development, implementation, and execution of the HR Strategy of Smurfit

Kappa by adequate and efficient processes, systems, politics and tools

• Define and supervise the implementation of the HR Division strategy in accordance with SKG guidelines, with a view to supporting the region business operations and results achievement.

• Review HR processes on a regular basis to ensure that they conform to SKG Practice Guidelines.

• Coordination of succession planning and Employee optimization program within the Cluster, developing the talent acquisition strategy and the development and training plan.

• First point of contact for and intermediate between the employees and the management regarding HR topics.

• Involvement in the selection process of the employees in Morocco.

• Manage Internal Labor Audits from Group and the external audits and

inspections.

• Month Payroll & Reporting. Manage Year End reporting including responsibility

for the Annual HR Statements for the legal entity.

• Respects and enforces the rules regarding Labor Relations, Occupational Safety

& Health, Wellbeing and Environment.

• Contribute to the formulation of business strategies, plans and budgets and, in managing their subsequent implementation and outcomes.

• Manage the routine processes (daily, weekly, monthly, etc.) associated with the

HR Functions in keeping with the standards set by the Division (salaries,

contracts, onboarding, training, etc)

• Advise the Managing Director, Cluster HR Director, management team and other stakeholders of any cause for concern in respect of the HR figures (outcomes, trends, etc.) and present appropriate action plans.

• Manage her/his direct team. Drive consistency and standardization of procedures and controls within the HR Team.


To be considered for the role you will require a recognized Human Resource qualification and will need to be able to demonstrate following:

• Excellent HR background, preferably with a relevant degree of advanced level HR qualification.

• Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in Managing an HR department and negotiating with unions or employee’s rep, in a manufacturing and multinational environment.

• Solid experience of working at Management Team level and strong people skills and experience.

• Leadership skills, team player, well balanced and acting in line with the Smurfit Kappa Leadership model: People Development and Talent Development; Rewards and Recognition; Inclusion, Diversity and Belongings; Employee Experience and Performance.

• Consistently meet divisional deadlines on all target dates, both ensuring accuracy of reporting.

• Working together with operational managers and willingness to travel if is needed.

• Result oriented, analytical, and conceptual thinker, convincing from the content and communicative.

• Decisive, action-oriented, and able to manage deliverables effectively. Strong sense of ownership and flexibility when operational challenges occur.

• Ability to autonomously manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

• Extensive knowledge of HR ERPs and Microsoft Office products.

• Good leadership paired with strong communication skills (written & oral) and the ability to engage and lead people.

• Strategic view with high ethical standards.

• Enjoys finding solutions to problems and has a hands-on mentality.

• Energy and drive to motivate positive change within the team.

• Enjoy working in a continuously changing environment.

• Demonstrates empathy and patience when appropriate.

• Excellent Arabic, French and English communication skills, both verbal and written, and ideally Spanish.
