The Decoloniality Network (TDN) is a non-profit organization committed to developing and nurturing a network, knowledge platform, and capacity-sharing space to foster shared learning, support, inspiration, and movement building for practitioners of decoloniality in development, non-profit, civil society, and philanthropy. Purpose of the Role: The French & English Speaking Community Building & Educational Development Program Consultant will play a pivotal role in expanding the reach and impact of TDN and Beyond DEI, with a specific focus on French-speaking countries. This role is centered on building, connecting, and amplifying strong, meaningful communities and fostering decoloniality through educational program development, resource co-production, and relationship management. The Program Consultant will work across sectors including development, non-profit, civil society, and philanthropy, to advance decoloniality practices within these spaces.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:
Relationship Building & Management
Cultivate and maintain relationships with a diverse range of experts, including practitioners, researchers, local leaders, and activists, to expand membership and engagement with TDN. These experts will also serve as guest lecturers for focused learning events and the annual conference.
Collaborate with organization members and subject matter experts to co-create tools and toolkits to advance decolonial principles and practices across sectors.
Engage with anti-racism and decoloniality experts within and outside of the organizations to provide strategy feedback and foster a collaborative network.
Resource Development and Dissemination
Gather and disseminate decoloniality insights by working with stakeholders to build a robust database of decolonial resources, including research, publications, and tools.
Assist with the planning and production of educational events, including workshops, webinars, and lectures, and participation in external decolonial events, which support TDN’s strategic goals and elevate its visibility in French-speaking regions. Project Coordination and Support:
Provide logistical and administrative support for virtual and in-person events, including scheduling, coordinating translations, and managing participant engagement across all project deliverables.
Monitor and report on project progress, ensuring deliverables are on schedule and meet established objectives.
Advocacy and Community Engagement
Advocate for decolonial practices in the target regions by supporting organization’s advocacy and outreach efforts, with a focus on regions and communities that are historically marginalized or impacted by colonial legacies and current realities.
Engage community members by fostering communication and dialogue within the network, supporting initiatives that advance TDN’s mission. Language and Cultural Adaptation:
Utilize bilingual French and English skills to ensure accessibility and appropriateness of all communications, resources, and events to French-speaking audiences, as well as to extend accessibility to speakers of other globally-proliferated languages such as Spanish, Portuguese, and Arabic.
Educational Development
Assist with the development of a year-long decolonial learning program by collecting and incorporating region and culture-specific decolonial knowledge and pedagogical methods for French-speaking nations formerly or currently impacted by colonialism.
Develop meaningful community with local networks of decoloniality practitioners and experts to gather context-specific guidance, feedback, & expertise.
Support educational events (workshops, lectures, and discussions) to disseminate decolonial knowledge and practices to various stakeholders across sectors. Required Skills & Qualifications:
Proficiency in French and English with excellent verbal and written communication skills in both languages.
Experience in project management and community engagement, particularly in the non-profit, civil society, philanthropy, or development sectors.
Strong understanding of decolonial and intersectional practices, with a demonstrated commitment to anti-racism and decolonial movement-building.
Experience in developing educational materials and programs, ideally with a decolonial or social justice-oriented focus.
Experience in the social justice space, including community organizing, advocacy, or decolonial movement-building.
Highly organized, resourceful, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
Comfortable working remotely, with flexibility to work across time zones and coordinate with a global team. Both TDN & Beyond DEI value work-life balance and strive to respect reasonable working hours despite the flexibility required for time zone differences.
