We are looking for an experienced and rigorous Specialized General Nurse (Pediatrics/Neonatal ICU/Pediatric ICU) to join our Department of Nursing and Hospital Hygiene at HUIR. They will be responsible for providing care to maintain or restore the health of sick children, monitoring the health status of patients, and coordinating care during their hospitalization and upon discharge. They will act, either on their own initiative or according to the doctor's orders: interviews with the child and their family, therapeutic education, preparation and distribution of medications, technical procedures (dressings, sample collection, blood pressure measurement, injections, etc.).
They will also assess the child's physical and psychological development, as well as their health status, establish a social and health diagnosis, and carry out educational activities to promote the autonomy of the child and their family, supporting parents and the family in their parental roles by helping them perform care, prevention, and education activities.
Your main responsibilities will be:

1. INFORMATION / COMMUNICATION / RELATIONSHIP:

With the child and their family:

• Adopt an attitude that facilitates welcoming
• Show a reassuring and empathetic attitude towards children and their families
• Remain calm in emergency or conflict situations
• Have a supportive attitude
• Initiate educational activities (therapeutic education for diabetic children, asthmatic children, and home treatment...)

With teams and professionals:

• Work collaboratively with various teams:
• Technical platform teams (laboratory, radiology)
• Outpatient consultation team (EEG, ophthalmology, anesthesia...)
• Admissions office (IT)
• Adapt to different professionals (pediatricians, surgeons...)
• Work in partnership with the nursing assistant, respecting each other's roles

2. ORGANIZATION and TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Master knowledge in the field of pediatrics:

• Knowledge of child development
• Knowledge of the most common pediatric conditions (bronchiolitis, gastroenteritis, asthma, nephrotic syndrome, diabetes...)
• Psychological support for children and families upon arrival and during hospitalization
• Dexterity and speed in performing care and intensive care procedures
• Rigor in maintaining and managing equipment
• Stay updated on new techniques (pain management, protocols...)
• Update knowledge through continuous training or other information sources
• Organize and provide care specific to the specialties in your unit (appointments, transfers...)
• Be versatile in medical and surgical care encountered in the department
• Suggest new organizational methods to optimize the unit's work if necessary
• Have skills in record management (filing, record keeping, targeted updates...)
• Know administrative procedures
• Be proficient in using computer tools

3. TRAINING OF TRAINEES:

• Have an educational attitude for training

• General Nurse Diploma + Specialization in Pediatrics (DU/certificates...)
• Minimum 3 years of experience in pediatrics or neonatal intensive care
• Ability to diagnose and meet patient needs
• Knowledge of the responsibilities of a nurse
• Knowledge of best practice procedures and techniques related to their field of activity
• Conducting resuscitation in partnership with the responsible physician in the context of emergency care.
