For the Moroccan subsidiary, based in Casablanca, EDF Renewables is looking for a :
PROJECT DIRECTOR (M/F)
- Number of Staff Supervised: Direct Reports approx. > 5 people and Indirect Reports, approx. > 10 people
- Financial Dimensions: Site representative of projects with value in excess of $500 million over project life
- Division: Noor Midelt I SPV
- Location: Rabat or Casablanca
Reporting to the CEO SPV, you will be in charge of managing the execution of the assigned projects, ensuring that all activities from design, permitting, procurement, construction, to commissioning, energization, testing and handover of the project achieving world class levels of QHSE, business and manpower performance during all phases within budget, meeting stringent schedule, demonstrating innovation in technology definition, and coordinating complex interfaces.
Your responsabilities will be the following:
Project/Site Management
- Lead and manage the planning, control and delivery of the assigned renewable energy project on behalf of Masdar & EDFR, in order to ensure its effective execution and delivery in compliance with key parameters related to quality, standards and time while overseeing cost, invoice management, procurement management, and others including delegation of authority to allow smooth project execution.
- Manage the creation and execution of schedules, work plans and WBS (work breakdown structure) to meet client/sub-contractor/vendor/project plans and objectives.
- Oversee engineering and construction contractors in carrying out the detailed engineering design of the project, procuring all the equipment and materials necessary, and then constructing to deliver a functioning facility/asset to the client.
- Provide assurance and support in the decision making process on various planning, design, procurement, control, and execution issues including performance of sub-contractors, vendors, partners as well as claims, variations, and other measures as necessary.
- Inform the management of any major project delays, identify critical issues, and propose mitigation plan.
Manage sub-contractors, vendors and suppliers
- Engage with and monitor relationships with sub-contractors, vendors, suppliers and others in order to ensure adequate completion of plans and services as per agreed parameters.
- Develop and maintain a network of stakeholders and explore collaborations.
- As and when required, personally manage key relationships/negotiations with relevant internal and external stakeholders in order to ensure the negotiation and agreement of favorable deals and agreements that safeguard the project and client’s best interests while ensuring the delivery of necessary needs/goals
Monitor the project budget and finances
- Monitor the project budget and analyze the benefits and costs; recommending corrective actions if necessary.
- Monitor and advise upon project finances.
Project reporting
- Ensure that all relevant project reports are completed in a comprehensive, accurate and timely manner, and comply with international principles of corporate governance and standards, and client requirements.
Team management and supervision
- Organize and supervise the activities and work of the project team to ensure that all work is carried out in an efficient manner, which is consistent with operating policies and procedures.
- Provide on-the-job training and constructive feedback to subordinates to support their overall development and ensure proper monitoring of nationalization requirements in line relevant regulations.
Management of project governance, resourcing and quality assurance
- Contribute to the establishment of effective project governance processes and systems to be utilized throughout project durations.
- Ensure that resources are identified and secured in time to achieve project objectives.
- Ensure compliance with any relevant delegation of authority, cost and invoice management, risk management, human capital management, procurement management and others to allow smooth project execution.
Management of risk and change control for projects
- Interface with key stakeholders and external parties in order to effectively manage changes and conduct impact assessment.
- Produce project variation reports and minimize changes in line with project management processes. When needed, identify issues and develop action plans for corrective actions.
Manage consultant / stakeholder relations relevant to project delivery
- Engage with and monitor relationships with external consultants in order to ensure adequate knowledge transfer and completion of services as per agreed parameters.
- Develop and maintain a network of stakeholders and explore collaborations.
- As and when required, personally manage key relationships/negotiations with relevant internal and external stakeholders in order to ensure the negotiation and agreement of favorable deals and agreements that safeguard Masdar & EDFR’s best interests while ensuring the delivery of necessary needs/goals.
Support Quality Health and Safety Environment (QHSE) activities, policies and objectives of Masdar & EDFR and compliance with the laws and regulations of the country where the projects are located.
- This includes participating (when requested) in QHSE audits, office inductions, incident reporting and review of QHSE performances as applicable
Manage project handover
- Ensure early engagement with asset management to allow assessment of early production data and agree on plant performance criteria.
Build a professional project’s construction site team and contribute to their growth and development
- Build a team and have a system of knowledge build-up, transfer, provide guidance and advice to the team for their development and growth.
- Assist in the development of team members by supporting training strategies, developmental and succession plans.
- Participate in performance evaluation of subordinates and direct reports in order to ensure that their performance is monitored and enhanced.
- Participate in developing staff development plans in conjunction with Human Capital.
Comply with information security policies, procedures and requirements at all times
- Adhere to any applicable Masdar & EDFR information security policies and procedures and identify and report security incidents and suspected weaknesses to the appropriate point(s) of contact.
- Protect assets under care (e.g. laptops and other devices) and information/credentials against unauthorized access, sharing, and/or damage/loss, in accordance with the Information Classification and Handling Procedure.
- Clear desks of all sensitive material and log off/ lock workstations at the end of the day and when leaving desk for a prolonged period in accordance with Acceptable Usage Policies.
- Ensure not installing, copying or modifying of any software on Masdar & EDFR equipment without authorization.
Support Quality Health and Safety Environment (QHSE) activities, policies and objectives of Masdar & EDFR and compliance with the laws and regulations of Abu Dhabi and UAE.
- This includes participating (when requested) in QHSE audits, office inductions, incident reporting and review of QHSE performances as applicable
QUALIFCATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science or any other related field
- Master’s degree in a relevant field is an asset
Preferred Experience:
- Minimum 8-10 years of senior project management experience with exposure to global scale and complex energy, water, technology and utility projects, preferably with local and global exposure, with roles focused on business development, and/or project management/governance or equivalent experience
Job-Specific Skills:
- Knowledge of renewable energy sectors
- Broad knowledge of all deal execution components including legal and regulatory compliance, debt structuring, etc.
- Good understanding on financial modelling and ability to provide economic and market analysis
- Strong ability to negotiate and close complex deals, at a local, regional and international level
- Ability to integrate and lead cross-functional teams
