Project Support Assistant - MountainHER Project

Location: Rabat, Morocco

Main purpose of position



ICARDA has received PRIMA funds under the Empowering women associations as drivers for agroecological transformation to generate income for Mountain farming communities (MountainHER) and is now seeking an ideal young candidate capable of supporting the effective project management. Primarily, the position will focus on the data management, reporting, and communications support for the project. In addition, the successful candidate will provide support to several socio-economic studies with local and international women cooperatives to produce traditional foods and malt products.

The International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) is a treaty-based international non-profit research organization supported by CGIAR. ICARDA’s mission is to reduce poverty, enhance food, water, and nutritional security, as well as environmental health in the face of global challenges including climate change. We do this through innovative science, strategic partnerships, linking research to development and capacity development that take into account gender equality and the role of youth in transforming the dry areas. ICARDA works in partnership with governments, universities, civil society, national agricultural research organization, other CGIAR Research Centers, and the private sector. All CGIAR Centers are currently engaged into a reform process (“One CGIAR’”) that will help ICARDA and CGIAR achieve better impact through more strategically integrated research, unified governance, an integrated structure and new research modalities across participating Research Centers. This transformation is supported by CGIAR donors who have committed to increased funding as a result of these reforms.

Main responsibilities



· Store all project data in adequate data management systems (MEL and BMS)
· Support project lead in ensuring partners delivery.
· Compile technical reports.
· Interact with rural communities to support socio-economic studies.
· Support the communication requirements of the project.

Requirements



Education, qualifications and experience



· Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline with at least 2 years’ relevant experience (candidates with Masters’ Degree qualify)
· Proven ability to compile reports and/or publish research articles.
· Demonstrated capability of managing projects effectively, including the use of project management databases.
· Experience in socio economic studies involving rural women.
· Fluency in spoken and written English.
· Fluency in spoken Moroccan Arabic.

Desirable qualifications and competencies



· Previous experience in similar projects
· Driving license

Terms of appointment



This is a nationally recruited staff position open for Moroccan nationals for which ICARDA offers an attractive compensation package including a competitive salary, medical insurance, 30 days of annual leave, five months’ maternity leave, 15 days’ paternity leave. The successful candidate will be offered a contract of 1 year of which the first 6 months will be a probationary period.
