About ASARI
The African Sustainable Agriculture Research Institute (ASARI) was started by UM6P in Laayoune in 2020 as part of the Foum Eloued technopole project. It focuses on research and development programs like farming with salty water, using local plants, the camel industry, and water and renewable energy. The institute has a team of scientists, including agronomists, biochemists, molecular biologists, bioprocess specialists, and animal scientists, to address challenges in difficult environments.
Job Summary
The training coordinator will work with project leaders and donors to create and design training programs suitable for the relevant area. This includes developing budgets, schedules, and study plans, and choosing participants. The coordinator will also manage and carry out training in several areas for farmers, technicians, engineers, and students.
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Work closely with the project lead and help with daily tasks, including planning the capacity-building activities.
- Help organize and run project meetings at the start, middle, and end of the project.
- Help organize scientific events like workshops and conferences.
- Prepare schedules for field demonstrations, surveys, and training programs. This includes identifying local partners, farmers, farmer groups, or individual households interested in pilot experiments.
- Coordinate all educational activities for training programs, such as graduate and postgraduate programs, executive education, and executive certifications.
- Prepare schedules and identify suitable suppliers. Help negotiate and sign contracts for equipment, materials, and services needed for training activities.
- Prepare a quarterly work plan with input from all involved parties, project leads, implementing partners, and donors.
- Support the development of communication and partnership strategies, and create a system for coordination between partners, farmers, and cooperatives.
- Create training-related reports, brochures, and publications.
The candidate will also be expected to help maintain all field and lab equipment, order supplies when needed, and keep records for research plots. Responsibilities also include frequent travel to different research sites and farmers' fields, both nationally and internationally.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- Advanced degree (Engineer, Master) in agricultural development or related fields, with practical experience at local and national levels in planning, implementing, and monitoring agricultural programs.
- Experience in knowledge management and communication. Good command of Arabic and English is essential.
- Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Good spoken and written communication skills.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of statistics and database management.
- Additional language skills. Knowledge of English and French is desirable.
- Experience in supervision.
