Mission :
- Chemical and geochemical analysis of geological samples as part of the analytical services provided by the Geo-Analytical Lab (UM6P-OCP, Ben Guerir).
Main activities :
- Carrying out chemical analyses using X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (XRF);
- Carrying out calibrations of the XRF spectrometer;
- Development and validation of XRF analysis methods;
- Establishing instructions for the use and maintenance of the XRF spectrometer;
- Ensuring the proper functioning of the spectrometer;
- Managing the preventive maintenance schedule for the spectrometer;
- Carrying out routine maintenance and first-level maintenance operations for the spectrometer and associated equipment;
- Diagnosing and resolving common operating anomalies of the spectrometer;
- Assisting XRF spectrometry users in choosing procedures and conditions for preparing and packaging samples for XRF analysis;
- Contributing to the writing of quality documents (processes and procedures), and to the establishment and maintenance of the quality management system at the Geo-Analytical Lab;
- Forecasting consumable needs and ensuring their availability at the XRF workstation;
- Monitoring purchase requests for consumables and spare parts needed for the operation of the XRF spectrometer;
- Supporting, if necessary, the analytical activities of the Geo-Analytical Lab
Required profile :
Main skills
Knowledge
- Chemical and geochemical analyses;
- Good laboratory practices;
- Quality concepts and tools applied to laboratory chemical analysis techniques;
- Metrology (basic concepts).
- Operational skills
- Apply the quality approach;
- Organize and plan the use of the spectrometer according to analysis requests;
- Know and apply hygiene and safety rules;

- Know how to work interactively with laboratory service requesters;

Required diploma:
- License / Bachelor's degree (3 years);
- Desired field of study: Analytical chemistry, chemometrics, analytical instrumentation.
Required experience:
- 3 years minimum in an analysis laboratory;
- Experience in an XRF analysis laboratory will be appreciated;
- Experience in an accredited laboratory in geochemistry or soil analysis will be appreciated.
