We are looking for a dynamic, competent, and highly professional Pharmacy Assistant responsible for operating room pharmaceutical products (M/F) to join the Pharmacy Department at UIR Hospital. He/She will ensure the operational management of medicines and other pharmaceutical products necessary for the operating room's activity. He/She will ensure their availability, reception, storage, traceability, and secure provision, in compliance with the institution's procedures, hygiene and safety requirements, as well as the rules for securing the medication circuit in the operating room.
Your main tasks will focus on the following areas:
- Evaluate the pharmaceutical product needs of the operating room in relation to scheduled activity, defined allocations, observed consumption, and specific needs expressed by the operating room and anesthesia teams.
- Anticipate necessary supplies to ensure the continuity of per-operative care.
- Ensure the supply of medicines and pharmaceutical products for the operating room according to current allocations and validated requests, using dedicated management and tracking tools and software.
- Receive pharmaceutical products intended for the operating room, check their quantitative and qualitative compliance, verify expiry dates, batch numbers, and reception conditions, then ensure their storage according to the rules established by the institution.
- Ensure the secure storage of pharmaceutical products in cabinets, reserves, allocations, and trolleys in the operating room, respecting storage rules, stock rotation, FIFO principle, conservation conditions, and product identification.
- Monitor stocks, rotations, discrepancies, shortages, and products nearing expiry.
- Report any anomalies, batch recalls, shortages, or non-compliance and participate in the implementation of necessary corrective measures.
- Participate in securing the medication circuit in the operating room by ensuring the proper organization of allocations, storage, cabinet stocking, anesthesia trolleys, and emergency trolleys.
- Contribute to the prevention of medication errors in a high-risk environment.
- Pay particular attention to high-risk medications, by applying specific procedures for identification, storage, labeling, checking, and traceability, in accordance with the security rules in force in the institution.
- Under the responsibility of the pharmacist, ensure the traceability of pharmaceutical products used in the operating room whenever required, particularly for sensitive medications, tracked batches, products subject to special vigilance, or those requiring specific administration tracking.
- Participate in periodic and annual inventories of operating room stocks, check the consistency between physical stocks and computer records, and contribute to the analysis of discrepancies.
- Contribute to communication between the pharmacy and the operating room teams by relaying useful information regarding availability, reference changes, batch recalls, supply shortages, good practice guidelines, and safety instructions.
- Apply the institution's quality procedures, participate in reporting adverse events, contribute to the continuous improvement of the operating room medication circuit organization, and ensure the filing and archiving of documents related to their activity.
Required profile :
- Hold a diploma as a pharmacy technician or equivalent
- At least 5 years of experience in hospital pharmacy, stock management, and healthcare product circuits
- Experience in the operating room, anesthesia, PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit), or an environment with high traceability and safety requirements is a significant asset
- Knowledge of quality requirements, expiry date tracking, returns management, and supplier relations is desired
- Proficiency in reception, checking, storage, supply, and inventory operations for pharmaceutical products, as well as traceability rules, expiry management, and batch tracking is desirable
- Have knowledge of the principles of securing the medication circuit in the operating room, particularly regarding allocations, cabinet stocking, emergency trolleys, and high-risk medication management
